Thanks. I love IPA's so I also bought their hardcore IPA.

My personal favorite IPA is Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. The brewery is based out of DE, so I'm hoping I can find other Dogfish brew while I'm jaunting up the east coast.

Is anyone ready for Sink the Bismark! I was told that I will need to special order it.

I only just looked at the 'Sink the Bismark' link in detail; 41% ABV for a beer!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

How do they do that? They said something about freezing it. I suppose that they must freeze & remove the water, leaving the alcohol, like an Arctic version of distillation! Honestly, it's not THAT cold in Fraserburgh! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Graham.

You may not want to look at this then. The End of History

Have you placed your special order yet? Although it is a little pricey at 500 pounds per bottle, I think that the exchange rate is in your favour.

It is not really beer, but what is it: cryoliquor?

Nope. If I were going to buy something like this it would be Sam Adams Utopias. I love the decanter.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA is available from the BC Liquor Stores. I just looked it up in the product guide. It is the only one though. I have seen it at one of the local specialty stores & wondered about trying it. Now I will have to do so.

Graham.

The said beer has been located & 2 bottles purchased. It only remains for it to be sampled now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

I can assure you it would not have lasted that long in my fridge. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Thanks for the comments.

The Queen Elizabeth will be visiting the Clyde on 7 September next year and once again, the PS Waverley will be escorting her "doon the water".

The five and a half hour trip cost £35. Well worth it!

Stewart

Not sure if you have reliable inside information but a visit to the Clyde on 7th September would conflict with the traditional sailing period of the Waverley in the Solent and South Coast Waters. Unless there is a fundamental recasting of her timetable I think it more likely that they would meet in Southampton Water at this time of the year.

One bottle consumed this evening: Yellowish in colour, like a lager. Malty on the nose. Slightly hoppy in taste but light on flavour & short on the palate. Not one of my all time favourite beers. I have tasted American beers that I like better, such as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (which I have tasted in several corners of the USA & have even seen in the UK) & the Hawaiian Kona Beers.

Get on an Alaska cruise that stops in Victoria, so you can taste Swans Extra IPA, Phillips IPA & Tree Hophead. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Kona is pretty good. It is one of those that I can drink anytime anyplace. Don't really care too much for Sierra Nevada. Maybe it's because it is on tap wherever I go. I would like to try 120 minute IPA.

I'm on a Belgian kick lately. Delerium Tremens is a good one to start with. The Rocheforts are amazing. They pour dark, but drink light. There is a belgian style beer that is brewed in Quebec that is quite tasty. La Fin Du Monde I'm hoping to get my hands on a few while we are in Quebec next month. I was very keen on Belgian beers for a while, after visiting Belgium a few years ago, but that phase is passing. I really do not like 'flavoured' beers. I still have the occasional Chimay red cap or blue cap though. We get the Unibroue, Quebec beers here, but once again, I find them too 'flavoured' for me.

My last memory of Waverley was an unexpected sighting as we left Southampton on Saga Ruby last year, for our Atlantic crossing. Suddenly, with her low profile disguising her, there was Waverley racing towards us. I lined up the camera for a good shot as she came along side & then; 'BLAST,' the camera battery was flat! It was great seeing her though. Two classics together!
